The memorial lecture is scheduled for September 7, 2026, from 3:00 PM onwards at the Old Lecture Theatre (OLT), Department of Geology, Presidency University, Kolkata. All faculty members, research scholars, and students are warmly invited to attend this prestigious gathering.

The Department of Geology, Presidency University, Kolkata, and the Geological Institute present a workshop for the 50th Professor S. Ray Memorial titled "Geophysics in Practice: From Fundamental Theory to Field Applications." Instructed by Dr. George Biswas (Assistant Professor) and Dr. Tapas Acharya (Associate Professor), the session bridges theoretical concepts with practical field execution.The workshop takes place on September 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM onwards at the Old Lecture Theatre (OLT). Eligibility is open to students in their 2nd year of undergraduate studies or above. Registration costs ₹120/- and can be completed by scanning the QR code on the poster.

Presidency University has a significant historical background as one of Asia's first Western-style higher education institutes. Founded in 1817 as Hindoo College, it later became Presidency College and was upgraded to Presidency University in 2010.

The Department of Geology, established in 1892, is the oldest geology teaching department in India. Its alumni have made significant contributions to geological sciences, academia, and industry while fostering groundbreaking research and collaborations..
